5 Saudi cities participate in a global competition

Five Saudi cities are competing in NASA’s Space Applications Challenge, in partnership with the Valley of the Abacars, on April 27-29.

Competitors compete to develop NASA-based challenge solutions, a website, a mobile application, or a prototype for a new innovation. Two teams from each city will be nominated, with 10 teams across the Kingdom running for the final stages.

For its part, Wadi Al Abaqara has established a strategic partnership group which includes the Royal Commission in Jubail, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Namaa Al Munawwarah, Effat University.

The competition, one of the initiatives of the US space agency, is being launched for the first time in Saudi Arabia.

Engineer Taher Al-Balawi, founder and CEO of Wadi Al-Abaqra (Qikes Valley), the organizer of the competition locally, said that his belief in the competence of the Saudi youth confirms the Kingdom’s ability to reach the stage of the knowledge society, which we are keen to establish and that its youth are ready to face the cultural challenges Meritorious and capable.
