A more sustainable and environmentally friendly technology for creating solar panels

Modern solar panels are certainly a source of clean energy, but the process of their manufacture can cause nasty damage to the environment. Trouble lies in the use of lead, which is toxic to improve the efficiency of the panels .

Researchers have long been trying to solve this problem, and here’s a group of scientists from Northwestern University have already appeared some positive results. They managed to create a tin-based perovskite, which is non-toxic element, the resource cnet.com.

Perovskite layer based on tin acts as an effective absorber of the solar light and located between the two layers that transmit electricity.

Unfortunately, at this time the efficiency of solar panels on the basis of lead tin slightly inferior counterparts. However, according to the scientists, this is only the beginning, and ultimately the effectiveness of the new panels on the basis of lead tin surpass efficiency devices.

“Tin and lead belong to the same group of elements in the periodic table, so we expect them similar performance indicators” – says one of the researchers, a specialist in the field of inorganic chemistry.

The main purpose of this technology is to create effective and more environmentally friendly solar panels , which will contribute to the protection of our planet from ecological disaster.
