A second attempt to launch vehicle failed Falcon 9

Falcon 9

Running updated booster Falcon 9 from the spaceport at Cape Canaveral in Florida, scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, was canceled due to technical problems. Less than a minute before the start (2:39 Moscow time) engineers private American company SpaceX launch machine stopped.

This is the second unsuccessful attempt to raise the upgraded Falcon 9 in the sky. First run was interrupted automatically after the start of the engines almost before booster separation from the launch pad. The second time, operators manually stopped the Falcon 9. Apparently, the engineers tried to fix the problem, but did not manage to make it to the closing of the launch window, the magazine writes Wired.

According to SpaceX founder Elon Musk, the reason for the cancellation served slow start the engine thrust. As reported, restarting the Falcon 9 will be held a few days after a complete check and rocket engines Merlin.

Falcon 9 launch is important for SpaceX, as the rocket must withdraw into geostationary orbit commercial satellite SES-8 to provide communications between the inhabitants of the Asia-Pacific region.

It should be noted that the withdrawal of SES-8 into orbit a Dutch company SES World Skies contractor paid about 56 million dollars. SpaceX on the site indicated that the costs of the Falcon 9 launch ranging from 56 to 77 million dollars, which is much cheaper than the competition. Running Russian carrier rocket “Proton” or European Ariane 5, for example, costs about 100 and 200 million.

U.S. is not the only country that tolerates failure space. Russia also has a story to tell. Since 2010, on account of our space industry five failed launches. The last incident was an explosion rocket “Proton-M” with three GLONASS satellites.
