Accolade has announced a new Bubsy game. Bubsy: Paws on Fire is developed by Choice Provisions, the studio behind Bit. Trip Runner. The game comes out for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC. The game will appear in the first quarter of 2019.

On the blog of Choice Provisions, the developer explains that the game has four playable characters. Each character has their own moveset and own leaderboard. The game contains a hundred levels in three different worlds, with three bosses. There is also an in-game shop where players can buy accessories for the characters. Choice Provisions emphasizes that the game does not contain any in-game purchases that involve real money.

Bubsy was conceived in 1993 as a mascot for Accolade. The first Bubsy game, Bubsy in Claws Encounters or the Furred Kind, was a modest success. The game received three sequels and a pilot for an animated series.

After the release of Bubsy 3D for PlayStation 1 in August 1997, it took twenty years for a new game to come out in the series. This was due, among other things, to the bankruptcy of Accolade on 11 September 2000. The brand name was purchased in June 2017 by the Hong Kong holding Billionsoft. On 31 October 2017, Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back came out for the PlayStation 4 and PC.
