ACM would take Ziggo under the microscope by UPC




The Dutch market authority would like to have the last word on the acquisition of the parent company Ziggo, UPC. That ACM has informed the European Commission, where the companies have submitted the application. Before the acquisition

The European Commission may allow the assessment done by the country where the acquisition has the greatest impact, and the Netherlands. ACM would like to make that assessment, writes himself the authority on its own site. ACM wants to investigate whether the acquisition may have negative consequences for the Dutch market: Ziggo is only active in the Netherlands, the parent company of UPC in other European countries.

UPC and Ziggo announced the planned acquisition in January of. After the acquisition, the cable company will continue under the name Ziggo, UPC even though the company has said it takes Ziggo. The European Commission needs to know by May or ACM evaluates the acquisition. Or the acquisition goes through, at the latest known only at the end of the summer.
