Activision sends for indie game from Steam with DMCA request

Sci-fi shooter The Orion Project has been one of Activision Steam DMCA request with regard to the appearance of two weapons in the game, an automatic shotgun and an automatic rifle. When and whether the game again becomes available, is not known.

In the first post on Steam late lead developer David James from indie studio Trek Industries know that “Activision Orion removed from Steam via a DMCA takedown request. The developers received a message stating that the game uses Orion weapon art from Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. It would go according to Activision’s takedown to the M8A7 rifle and the Bal-27 shotgun.

The authors see if any agreement the visors of both weapons, something all the commotion in a Reddit-topic results . In the same reaction from James about to happen, he admits that the visors may look alike, but that this “homage to weapons from the real world that have been signed.

In an update says James having had contacts with the designer of the weapons is now ‘terrible’ says he feels and that he “feels more comfortable with the change of the weapons’ whatever Activ Zion will continue. Therefore, the weapons would in any case have to be fully visually different.
