Almost one in three Belgians prefer ‘classic mobile phone’ top smartphone




More than thirty percent of the Belgians in the first four months of this year bought a phone, chose a classic mobile ‘like a smartphone. According to figures from market researcher GfK which publishes Datanews.

This purchase Belgians still around 100,000 ‘dumbphones’ per month, so the figures that Datanews published distract. Often these are phones in the cheapest category: manufacturers offer only few such phones at high prices.

The share of smartphones sold, 69 percent in Belgium is thus equal to the percentage as it was in the Netherlands in December 2012. Meanwhile, that percentage will be increased further in the Netherlands, but has since lost Gfk figures thereon released.

Belgians bought in the first months of 2014 20 percent more tablets. However, to make out the figures that cheap smartphones and tablets are doing relatively better than before. Sales in the market for tablets increased slightly, to phone manufacturers earned a total of less.
