Amazon has stopped selling a large number of “hover boards”, a sort of self-balancing skateboard decks with large wheels on the side. Probably has to do with doubts about security, due to some recent incidents.

The Verge reports that the products of several manufacturers hoverboard from Amazon’s website verdwenen.Dat seems to be dealing with doubts about the safety of such products. As producer Swagway received a letter from Amazon which will be asked to show that the hover boards comply with safety standards, said a spokesman. Until then Swagway products are likely to be sold.

Specific reference is made by Amazon to safety standards for batteries and chargers. That is probably because recently some hoverboards fire is flown, probably due to problems with the battery. The British government had to take this reason 15.000 hover boards. American authorities also investigate safety.

Some hoverboard models are still sold on the Amazon website, which is not entirely clear, the sale has been put on the basis of what criteria. The online store itself has given no explanation for the likely temporary stop sale.
