AMAZON ( Reuters) – Amazon said on Friday it would buy a $ 13.7 billion supermarket chain, Whole Foods Market, in an attempt by the US e-commerce giant to expand into the food market.

In order to dominate the retail e-commerce market, Amazon has been offering products at very competitive prices. About six months ago, the company began to reveal its ambition to expand into grocery stores by announcing a grocery store in Seattle.

In early December, Amazon unveiled Amazon Go, a store that offers packed breakfasts, lunch and dinner, as well as light meals, with a selection of basic vegetables and fruits such as bread, milk, equipment and utensils.

What distinguishes Amazon Joe is that it is equipped with sensors and computer vision devices and deep learning with facial recognition technology in order to detect the goods selected by shoppers and send the bills of those goods to the Amazon accounts of shoppers if they are not returned to those goods to the shelf again .

Now Amazon has announced the acquisition of the chain of stores, “Hall Foods Market,” which has more than 456 stores offering organic and natural vegetables and fruits, but is struggling to curb prices and integrate technology into its operations.
