AMD demonstrates laptop Carrizo-apu

AMD is demonstrating at CES a working laptop with Carrizo-apu. The chip designer showed among other things, that a system with the APU is capable of 4k-video on the basis of the h265-codec to play smoothly off.

In addition to the laptop, there were more systems Carrizo chips from AMD claims Anandtech. The site could not take pictures but got images of the reference laptop. The laptop has not had support for dual-graphics, but future versions would have to get a dedicated GPU in addition to the APU. More details on the laptop and other systems are not there yet, but it demonstrated that the AMD APU processing h265 video without frame drops can handle, where an Intel system here would have difficulty.

Besides more graphics processing power in the form of a new Graphics Core Next GPU, which provides support to both Mantle as DirectX 12, the Carrizo-APUs have better battery life than the current Kaveri chips to bring laptops. Carrizo-APUs feature Excavator cores and are aimed at the high end, while Carrizo L based Puma + -cores is designed and should operate the mainstream and entry-level market. However both chips fit on the same motherboards, which manufacturers must provide more flexibility in the choice of APUs. Laptops with the chips should appear in the first half of 2015 showed an AMD spokesperson PC World know .
