AMD introduces efficient mobile socs with codenames Mullins and Beema

AMD has introduced two new product families for mobile devices. The socs with codenames Mullins and Beema must present generations APUs follow and be deployed. In tablets and laptops

With the APU of the Beema and Mullins-generation AMD has a new series accellerated processing units for mobile devices released. The APUs are built as soc, so virtually all the functionality – CPU and GPU cores to USB controllers – sitting in a chip. The motherboard designs of tablets and laptops can therefore be simple, so the cost is reduced. The Beema and Mullins-APU ‘s are for budget laptops and tablets intended.

Compared with the previous generation APUs with codenames Temash and Kabini, AMD promises especially socs that are more economical. Energy consumption has gone down, so tablets can be cooled passively. Mullins with-socs Is the speed compared to the previous generation, not dramatically, since the same Jaguar cores are used. For the CPU cores Graphics are the socs something stronger, though AMD still uses the Graphics Core Next cores for the GPU.

The socs have a higher clock speed for both cpu and gpu got cores. Moreover, an ARM core built-in, that for hardware must ensure security of sensitive information. AMD introduces three Mullins-socs for tablets with clock speeds up to 2.2 GHz and TDP up to 4.5 W. For laptops, four Beema-socs of 10W or 15W and clock speeds up to 2.4GHz on the market.
