AMD introduced the Radeon Pro Duo. It’s the long-awaited card with two GPUs Fiji, where earlier it was thought that this would be called Fury X2. AMD puts the card, which will cost 1499 dollars, in the market as a platform for creating virtual reality content.

According to AMD, the Radeon Pro Duo 16 teraflops of computing power. The card uses two Fiji GPUs, which each have 4GB high bandwidth memory, for a total of 8GB. Further specifications at time of writing not known, but photographs of the map that uses three 8pin connectors. That means that the graphics card of up to 525W can be provided. Thus it seems likely that the video card uses two full Fiji XT GPUs, where R9 Fury X one of them has. By combining two of these GPUs would be available in a total of 8192 stream processors.

Actual consumption will depend on the clock speeds of the GPU’s. If AMD managed to reduce the TDP of the R9 Fury Nano to 175W, while the Fury X same, but faster clocked Fiji XT GPU, has a TDP of 275W. There were long been rumors about the arrival of a new AMD graphics card with two GPUs as a successor to the R9 295X2. Initially it was thought that AMD card would give the name Fury X2.

In the pictures you can see that the card is provided with a water cooling radiator which has a 120mm fan. Probably, it is a cooler from Cooler Master, as with the R9 Fury X. Earlier surfaced already indications that AMD’s new dual-GPU card would feature such a cooler.

The Liquid VR-SDK was one year ago, was introduced , and contains, among other things, the technology Affinity Multi-GPU, which is rendered with the use of a video card with multiple GPUs the image for each eye by each of the video chips. AMD says that the Radeon Pro Duo is the first product in a new AMD VR Ready creator line. Which products even more to get this predicate is unknown.

Further, AMD announced that it enters into a partnership with the Crytek VR First initiative, which should encourage students to create virtual reality content. AMD will therefor Radeon Pro Duo GPUs and LiquidVR-sdk provide universities.
