Find a Question:
“AMD Zen probably get to 32 cores
From leaked code from a Linux patch can be deduced that the Zen AMD processors may have up to 32 physical cores. The code came to light through Dresdenboy which the code on the Linux Kernel Mailing List archive or lkml.org encountered.
According to the blogger Dresdenboy evident from the patch on lkml.org now that the codename Zeppelin really behind the new Zen processors disguise. The code states namely AMD Zeppelin (Family 17h, 00h Model). Also earlier patches already referred on to a new processor series. In that patch was referenced only AMD Fam17h.
The most interesting part of the older code from November last year, the part which speaks of how the last level cache or llc id is calculated from the Zen-based mph programs. It says in the core complex code, but this is in accordance with Dresdenboy similar to compute unit and has been previously used in a variety of AMD-patents. Is written in the code also has a >> 3, which means that there are eight theoretical nuclei are present per compute unit.
Then there is the socket identifier is moved with three left, leaving three bits remaining for the id core complex, suggesting a maximum of eight core complexes per socket, or 32 physical cores. Although the number initially should be seen as temporary, do all different rumors that 32 cores would be able to beat once.Viewing:-255
