American designer has created furniture in cyberpunk

Designer Benjamin Rollins Caldwell realized his dream and has developed an entire line of furniture that is created, he used only the failed items of computer equipment and electronic appliances.

A native of South Carolina, Benjamin received two degrees in the arts and business in California Vestmontskom college. Returning to his home state, the artist began working in the company Votivo, which is engaged in the production of designer aroma candles and candleholders. In 2009 he resigned from the company and a year later founded his own workshop for making furniture – BRC Designs.

The artist speaks about his work not only as a “reinvention” of something very familiar to us. He finds inspiration in old things of antique shops, visiting the various sales, looking for abandoned warehouses and even happens in the trash, where you can often find any unique materials for their work.

As a result of all these efforts, Benjamin creates a whole range of furniture, which consists of playing cards, old piano, discarded books, bicycles, children’s toys and other, completely inapplicable in the production of furniture, objects. In his work, he also uses more conventional materials such as wood, metal, glass, plastic and stone.

“Sometimes I come across a subject that inspires me to design a completely new concept, but it also happens that this thing becomes just a building material in the process of creating something new,” – says the artist.

The new line of furniture called “binary”, entirely made of electronic components and PC cases, as well as various consumer electronics. Despite the fact that this furniture is unlikely to fit into any decor, and the practical application of it is special in itself does not bring the artist’s work looks really impressive. Get at least a chair, one part of which is woven entirely of tiny wires or mat of woven loops for data transmission. For his work the artist asks a lot of money, one only “binary chair” costs about 14 thousand dollars.

Every piece of furniture in this series is the most carefully constructed piece of modern art than a pile of garbage as it may seem at first. And who knows, maybe someone will get one of the celebrities themselves something of the work of the designer. Lady Gaga, for example, already looks great in the interior.
