AMS-IX exceeds the first boundary of 3,5Tbit / s




The Amsterdam Internet Exchange has exceeded the limit of 3,5Tbit / s. The record was just as previous records achieved on Sunday, six months after the previous record of 3Tbit / s. The peak started around eight o’clock in the evening.

The graph on the site of AMS-IX allows seeing the exchange around eight o’clock Sunday evening border 3,5Tbit / s broke with 3,517Tbit / s outbound traffic. The record of a half years ago on September 15 is thus broken amply. The peak was when 3.011Tbit / s.AMS-IX reports that since the beginning of this year, more than 20 parties have appeared on the platform, which allows the Internet node in February, the number of 700 affiliated unique networks exceeded. In addition, the service sees the trend that parties 10Gb Ethernet ports transition to 100GE ports. Mobile roaming traffic is reflected in the GRX-statistics , the last graph shows a clear growth of this type of traffic, especially in the summer months and a small peak around the end of the year. According to AMS-IX there are only three exchanges that handle global roaming traffic.
