In Amsterdam opens on January 16 the retro gaming hotel Arcade Hotel’s doors to the public. The aim of the hotel is to equip every room with games consoles from older generations. The Arcade Hotel tentative shares the building with Hotel Aalborg.

Arcade Hotel The Arcade Hotel will extend further into the building and eventually to replace the Hotel Aalborg, that’s the plan. In the hotel there are currently 43 rooms, of which nine are fitted with classic consoles such as the NES, SNES, Playstation 1, Sega Megadrive, Sega Game Gear and more. Owner of the hotel Daniel Salmanovich tells Tweakers that is the ultimate goal to equip every room with multiple consoles, but rooms would only contain a console at the time. Guests can borrow two games at a time at the desk and can exchange them as often as desired. He expected in about six months, all the rooms have decorated with a classic console.

The Arcade Hotel is a family business of the Salmanovich come from Montreal and is a project of his own. He stated that he still frequently during his travels missed his games, and on that basis decided to open a hotel for people in similar situations. According to him, does a hotel not ‘home from home’ to be. With his hotel, he just wants to feel recreating the typical game basement with friends. Salmanovich wants to build ten new rooms in an actual basement, with a large game room with video projector should be and that new consoles like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to be used.

Unlike friends in the basement game at home must be a price to pay for a night at the hotel. Depending on the room and date prices can rise from 40 euros to 350 euros per night. The hotel features or extras such as a library of comic books, a bar where drinks can be self-made, and there are eating typical Canadian dishes like poutine.

On January 16 go the first rooms open and over a period of two years the Arcade Hotel will take over all rooms of the Hotel Aalborg and renovation. The opening takes place at the Amsterdam Hotel Eight with a gaming event where teams can apply for a FIFA tournament played on the facade of the building. Located on the Sarphatipark in Amsterdam.
