Amsterdam starts large trial with traffic app that should reduce traffic jams




The city of Amsterdam, the province of North Holland and Rijkswaterstaat starting with a pilot with 10,000 users in an attempt to reduce traffic jams around Amsterdam. That has an app through which users get to see diversions and alternatives if there is a traffic jam.

ADAM Not everyone gets to see the same information in the app ADAM . If there is only one lane is open, some users are advised that route just take, while the rest is an alternative. Result files should be shorter.

The app works both ways. ADAM not only sends information about location and routes to the Traffic Department, travelers get both before and during the trip about which routes are the fastest and how long the journey takes. ADAM promises privacy-sensitive data for more than one year to save the life of the project.

The application comes out next week for iOS and Android. If the trial is successful, other municipalities and provinces would be able to apply the concept in other areas
