Analyst: Consumers bought last three months, 4.2 million smart watches

Consumers have bought a total of about 4.2 million smart watches in the past quarter. That treasure analyst firm Strategy Analytics. More than half of those watches was an Apple Watch, thinks the bureau.

The smartwatch market peaked during the holidays and since then supplies have been halved, it appears from the estimates from Strategy Analytics. Of the 4.2 million watches are delivered 2.2 million copies an Apple Watch. Approximately 600,000 were from Samsung. The analyst firm does not provide estimates of other manufacturers like Motorola, Huawei, Asus and Pebble.

The figure includes only smart watches and therefore fitness trackers. The estimates of analysts, the only way to see how it goes with the smartwatch market because manufacturers disclose figures for deliveries.

The market has been a revival of the release of the Apple Watch in April last year, but due in part to the growth of manufacturers other than Apple. Last autumn, moreover, a new generation of smart watches, including the Huawei Watch and Asus ZenWatch 2 with Android Wear, the gear S2 with Tizen and the Pebble Time Round.
