Analysts: Microsoft’s next leader must be a genius of the software
Potential candidates who could replace Steve Ballmer as the new head of Microsoft is already rife. But who would not be taken later as CEO of the Redmond company, this one should definitely be a genius in the development of software products. At least so says the president of technology research firm Creative Strategies, Tim Bajarin.
According to him, Steve Ballmer too carried away by one of the new areas of work with Microsoft, which is almost entirely forgotten her roots. As a result, expectations imposed on the operating system Windows 8, which was to cheer and help the PC industry did not materialize and it undermined the very most popular Microsoft.
That is why, according to the analyst, the next head of the company is to become a man, well versed in software development. It was such a leader will be able to take the company out of the peak, where it is already quite a long time is.
“It should not only be a great manager, but also a genius on the field of creating software” – explains Bajarin.
“This man should return the company to its roots and try to get it out of the crisis, whose symptoms began to appear at a time when she was just starting to look towards the mobile sector. This person must specify the correct direction and focus only on one segment of the market. ”
At the moment, the most obvious and apparent candidates to replace Ballmer did not see it, but as we mentioned before , Microsoft will consider both internal and external potential candidates. And if you look sensible, the chance of getting this role in-house employees is still somewhat higher.
On the other hand, some analysts believe that Microsoft should look in the direction of Google and search for the right candidate there. And the most appropriate in this case, one can become a Vic Gundotra, who at the time was working with Microsoft, and quite possibly will want to come back to the company with a fresh set of ideas to help revive its business.
“A good CEO would be Vic Gundotra, who is currently working at Google, used to come into it, again, from Microsoft. Its highly respected in the engineering and razrabotcheskom departments of both companies. Vic, perhaps, may be the only leader who could give Microsoft a necessary breath of fresh perspectives, because he understands perfectly the very culture of the company, “- says Tripp Chaudhry, an analyst at Global Equities Research.
