Android 4.4 makes KitKat microSD card first in many devices useless

Android , Featured , News

If you own a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the device has already been able to upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat, which itself may have already noticed that the microSD can not as before to be addressed, because apps can not write more from Android 4.4 easily on memory cards.

This is however not to any error, but is intentional, as the developer of FX File Explorer now with a comment said. It affects all the devices that have an internal writable by the user memory and a microSD card slot. The “WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE” command has to write off Android 4.4 only permission on the primary external memory of the device, the microSD is however for devices as described above evaluated as secondary external storage.

Apps can create on the microSD memory card so nothing more, edit or remove. Exactly why encounter numerous Galaxy Note 3 users now the problem no longer backup to a memory card to create or move files using the file manager. The problem can probably be circumvented with root access, but the has not the normal smartphone users in general.

UPDATE: Christian has pointed me to a point I had forgotten. Apps can write to memory cards after all, in their own folder. For some apps again it is not enough in others.

UPDATE 2: So it looks like and I have come to understand the problem with the microSD does not seem to be permanent, but can range from app developers themselves are fixed . The problem is ultimately that no developer knew accepted, because of Google in the changelogs for Android 4.4 platform did not mention anything about it. Thanks also “Thalhom” for instructions.

Google has since apparently again fully grasped by a decision in the toilet, what will be felt in the near future, tens of millions of users who upgrade their smartphone on Android 4.4 KitKat.
