Android owns 68.6 percent of the European smartphone market





According to the latest report of the analytical company Kantar Worldpanel, in 2013 Android operating system of Google owned 68.6 percent of the smartphone market in Europe. At second place is Apple, with its share of 18.5 percent of smartphones sold in Europe. The third position was the platform Windows Phone from Microsoft, which “otela” 10.3 percent of the market.

Dominique Sannebo, strategic director Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, commented:

“The Android platform has been powerfully in 2013, showing steady growth in all 12 major markets, including Europe, USA, Latin America, China and Japan. Apple lost the contrary, compared with last year a significant share of its market in most countries, but nevertheless maintained its position in some key markets, including the United States, where it accounts for 43.9 percent of sales, the UK with 29.9 percent and China with 19 per cent. ”

The report also states that the South Korean company Samsung, dominant market Android-smartphones and tablets, begins to feel the pressure from other manufacturers.

Indicator of its sales in Europe declined by about 2.2 percent and now stands at 40.3 percent. However, China’s sales showed a slight increase, where their share is now 23.7 percent.
