Apple discontinues online sales in Russia by ruble devaluation




Apple has temporarily stopped selling its products in the Russian Apple Store. The shop would be closed due to the strong depreciation of the ruble. Apple increased several times its prices for the Russian market.

Apple logo In the Russian Apple Store is currently a message displayed which can be read that the shop is temporarily closed. Apple will thus respond to the rapidly falling ruble, as a spokesman for Apple let know to Bloomberg. It is unclear when the Russian Apple Store will open its doors again.

The Russian ruble relative to the dollar and the euro hit a freefall: within a year the coin is half became worth less. The sharply lower value of the Russian currency forced Apple already allow to increment the ruble price for its products. For example, the iPhone 6 was in a period of several months, 25 percent more expensive.
