Apple is likely to come in the fall with a new iPad. Presumably it is a Pro model. This is evident from the code of iOS 12.1, which includes ‘iPad 2018 Fall’. According to earlier rumors, the new iPad Pro receives Face ID and a USB-C connection.
Website 9to5mac discovered the reference in the iOS 12.1. The name iPad 2018 Fall is in the code of the Setup app, which is used when setting up a new device. Earlier versions do not contain the reference to the autumn model of the iPad.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, known for providing accurate information about unannounced Apple products, states that the new iPad Pro will receive a USB port and will be shipped with an 18W charger. Via a beta of iOS 12 it became clear that an iPad is coming up with Face ID. Presumably, the new model has thinner screen edges and no fingerprint scanner. A 3.5 mm headphone jack would also be missing.
There have long been rumors about the arrival of a new iPad and it was initially expected that it would be announced in September with the iPhones, but now a new announcement in October seems obvious. Apple may also announce new MacBooks.
