Apple iPhone loses market share to Samsung, LG and Chinese brands




The iPhone has lost market share in the past year to include Samsung, LG and Chinese competitors. That according to estimates from several analyst firms. In total there were around a billion smartphones over the counter.

As the only manufacturer in the top five Apple saw its market share decline in the past year, from 18.7 to 15.3 percent, claims IDC. Competitor Strategy Analytics keeps it that Apple’s market share fell from 19.4 to 15.5 percent.

This makes Apple the only manufacturer in the top five smartphone makers which has lost market share. Market leader Samsung gained some ground on the competition, while the market share of the South Korean LG also rose to nearly 5 percent. The market shares of Huawei and Lenovo also rose. It involves estimates of analysts, the top five only make Apple, Lenovo and LG concrete figures on smartphone sales are known.

Apple’s market share dropped despite increased sales, because the increase in the total number of smartphones sold went harder. Apple’s market share was highest in recent months after the release of the iPhone 5s and 5c.
