Apple announced on Friday the hiring of two executives at Sony Pictures TeleFine to boost its presence in the already crowded original TV market in which Hollywood studios and Internet broadcast services, such as Netflix, are competing.

The American technology giant said in a statement that Jimmy Erlich and Zak van Amberg, who are responsible for launching popular shows such as “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” and “The Crown”, will join Apple in recently created jobs to oversee On all aspects of television shows.

“Jamie and Zack are the most talented television executives in the world and have been instrumental in making this golden age for television,” said Eddie Ko, senior vice president of Apple’s Internet software and services. “There’s a lot in the way,” Ku said, referring to what the company plans to launch in the video field.

The new acquisitions are believed to show a serious commitment by a technology company with huge budgets to produce high-quality television programs. Erlich and Van Amberg have been senior Sony executives since 2005.

Apple aims to play a larger role in the field is inherently increasingly competitive. Amazon and Netflix invested billions of dollars in comedic and dramatic television shows featuring the first-tier Hollywood stars. Facebook has signed deals with a number of news and entertainment companies focusing on the younger generation, such as Vox and BuzzFeed, to make upcoming video service offerings.

Apple began moving last week with a reality program called Planet of the Apps, a show on developers competing for venture capital. The series is available only to Apple Music subscribers, which is available for $ 10 a month.
