Apple makes both Samsung and TSMC make A9 SOC for iPhone 6s




Apple has two different socs designed for the iPhone 6s, according to an analysis of Chipworks. Some of the phones will get the Samsung manufactured version of the A9, the other part has a processor on board from the factories of TSMC.

The A9-socs have different type numbers, claiming Chip Works. In addition, the sizes which are different. While that of TSMC opens onto 104,5mm2 is that of Samsung 96mm2.
