Apple makes iTunes Extras available on Apple TV

Apple has rolled out an update to its Apple TV and iTunes service allowing users to access Apple TV iTunes Extras. With that service filmmakers can add extra content to their videos such as behind-the-scenes footage.

Previously the service was only available on Windows and OS X client from iTunes. Users should , according to Neowin have to have the 6.2 update from Apple TV that appeared earlier this week. Filmmakers can add additional content at any time in their movies that users can then stream directly.

Users now also download the extras not as a complete package, but streaming individually from a central server. This additional content can be viewed immediately and does not need to be postponed until a download is completed. With the release of iOS 8 in the autumn of this year iTunes Extras will be available for iPhone and iPad.
