Apple may revise prices after the release of iCloud Photo for Mac
Last week, Apple showed the world the first beta Photo – new photo cataloguer for the Mac. The program will replace the application-gallery and iPhoto tool for professional photo processing Aperture. The product looks very promising, but can turn into a headache for users.
The current mechanism photostream provides the ability to synchronize a limited number of photos via iCloud. These images are stored on different devices. With the release of Mac Photo for images and videos in full will be uploaded to iCloud. By default, the originals of these files are no longer on the user’s device, and move to the cloud, where are downloaded to other devices connected to the same account.
The problem is that even when the average intensity of shooting photos and videos, free 5GB allocated to Apple, very quickly come to an end. A pair of half-hour photo shoots and commercials – and now Mac warns of “the need to increase the storage iCloud». The program helpfully offers to subscribe to the tariff plan. The cost of an increase in iCloud following: 200 GB for $ 3.99 per month, 500 GB for $ 9.99 per month, 1TB for $ 19.99 per month.
In the past year, with the launch of the service “Mediatheques iCloud» Apple revised the prices of cloud storage and now they look more attractive. Nevertheless, compared with competitors, the storage cost epplovskogo still high. For comparison, the 1 TB cloud service Microsoft OneDrive will cost $ 6.99 per month, including a subscription to Office 365. Google and Dropbox ask for 1TB in the cloud for $ 9.99. All three services offer a free 15 GB.
Now Photo for iCloud still allows you to use Photo Stream, not including “Mediatheque iCloud». But will it be so in the future? As far as the right for Apple to offer cloud-based synchronization of photos on a Mac with the same prices for iCloud? If a company wants to convince users that the photo is a good alternative iPhoto and Aperture, it will have to revise their pricing policies. Now the cost of “apple” gigabytes at least twice as expensive than the competition.
According to rumors, Apple plans to lower prices and to offer an unlimited data plan to iCloud by analogy with iTunes Match. Like it or not, we will see after the release of the final version of the new Makovskaya Photoprogram.
