Apple opts for Intel as second supplier of iPhone modems’




According to sources from Bloomberg, Apple has opted for Intel when it comes to the provision of modems for future iPhone models including iPhone 7. That Apple could some models change the current Qualcomm modems.

The company from Cupertino would, however, continue to use Qualcomm modems iPhones on Verizon’s network and copies intended for the Chinese market.

It spread to several suppliers would allow Apple the opportunity to negotiate sharper prices, writes Bloomberg. Analysts believe that the Qualcomm modems perform better than Intel.

In April suggested Qualcomm CEO Steve Mollenkopf all that “places a large customer orders with a competitor,” by which he presumably meant modems for the iPhone 7.
