Apple has announced a new version of its remote control app for the Apple TV. Apple TV Remote app for iPhone includes support for touch gestures and Siri.

The new app is available for devices running iOS version 9.3.2 or later and works with the Apple TV systems of the second, third and fourth generation. The app works on iPhones, iPads and the iPod touch, but is not optimized for the iPad.

The operation is touch sensitive and comparable to that of the control of the latest generation of Apple TV. With the iPhone users can also enter text and use Siri voice control.

The app supports motion control for games and includes a stripped Game Mode. Provisional Apple continues to offer even the old app but is not known for how long. The new app was since June, when Apple announced it at WWDC as beta available.
