Apple stepped up efforts for a mobile payment solution

Paying physical goods with the smartphone will be the next subject par excellence when it comes to services for our mobile companion. Clear that Apple wants to be represented at the right time with the right solution. The rumors about Apple’s entry into the mobile payments were fueled this week several times. Among other things, by a patent that a payment of an article describes a smartphone. The foundation for such a system, Apple has laid over the past few years.

575 million registered iTunes customers could already point to Apple last year. Even if “dead” accounts withdraws, there is still a huge number of users that could access directly to a mobile payment system. The fact that Apple sooner or later, a mobile payment method is probably out of the question, only the when and especially the how is not clear.

Eddy Cue, according to “people familiar with the situation” have already spoken with representatives of the industry to reaffirm Apple’s interest in a payment method. Also internal restructuring should it have been given so that the issue can be addressed concretely. Apple, of course, denied to any opinion.

However, Apple has a distinct advantage over other providers: an affluent customer base. This is proven time and again figures that are collected on the subject of shopping via mobile devices. And the high Umsätz in iTunes and the AppStore suggest. If Apple so with a simple method, iPhone or iPad and to pay in the offline world use, traders would probably certainly anything but reluctant to rely on this system.

Whether the system uses Apple introduced with the iPhone 5S fingerprint scanner, stored credit card information is automatically added by forms or is very different realized, then hardly plays a role. Denee Carrington Forrester Research describes it aptly: “Apple is absolutely the sleeping giant in the payments world. They have the capability, they just have not tied it all together. ”
