Apple: We do not know of a single case of hacking the iPhone and iPad by Masque Attack
Apple has officially commented on the reports of “hole” security Masque Attack , which makes the iPhone and iPad vulnerable to remote cyber attacks. Researchers at FireEye announced the discovery of vulnerabilities on Monday. The vulnerability affects iOS 7.1.1, 7.1.2, 8.0, 8.1 and 8.1.1 beta.
Malicious software can even access the local data of the applications that were not removed after the replacement. These data can be cached address or authentication keys that a hacker may subsequently used to directly access the account. According to FireEye, vulnerability is caused due to the fact that iOS does not carry out compulsory verification of certificates of applications with the same bundle-id. Unsigned code is installed on iOS through corporate management profiles, which were originally designed for the installation of their own enterprise applications to bypass the App Store.
“In iOS and OS X built robust security technology to ensure safe use of the devices. They warn the user about how to install potentially dangerous and malicious software, – said the representative of Apple. – We do not know of a single case of hacking by Masque Attack. We encourage users to download applications only from trusted sources, such as the App Store and pay attention to any warnings that may appear before downloading the software. Business users should install applications from the websites of their companies, “- said in a statement Apple.
In other words, users can do to protect yourself from Masque Attack. It’s enough to give up the installation of applications from third-party sources and to use only the official application from App Store. Also, do not click on any pop-ups suspicious sites.
