Apple will integrate into the main game joystick button iPhone and iPad

Play on iPhone and iPad – it’s not always rewarding. Especially if it’s a sports simulator, and the characters of the game are so small that hit them with your finger the first time is difficult. Apple has developed a very sensible at first glance, a solution that avoids these difficulties and keep your nerves in order. In the new iPhone and iPad can be integrated into a miniature joystick for mobile games.

Play on the console is good and convenient, but has its disadvantages, for example, is not always a top iron. Play on your phone comfortably only in the “sensory” projects by type Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja, and shooters, platforming and racing is not very comfortable to drive a finger on the glass. For them, it is advisable to get a gaming controller.

The new Apple patent application describes the construction of a joystick for iPhone and iPad, built directly into the button Home. In standard mode, the key is used for common tasks: to return to the home screen and launch of the multi-tasking. Clicking on the button with a little effort, the user activates the “game” mode: the button is raised slightly above the surface of the screen and works as Pointing stick.

The principle of operation of the original manipulator resembles trackpoint laptops ThinkPad. Game characters start to control certain applied force, which uses a pair of resistive strain gauges. Their movement vector is determined in accordance with the applied force. The patent describes the ability to customize the sensitivity of the joystick for the purpose of easy management. In this case, pressing the keys simulates a standard click “Home”.

It should be noted that the fact that a patent does not mean that Apple would start actively for making the iPhone and iPad with built-in joystick. Currently, the company does not disclose its plans for the use of the patented technology.
