Archos has presented a budget smartphone with full HD screen and MediaTek soc. The 50d Oxygen follows the 50c Oxygen, which was released last year. The budget smartphone features an LCD with a diagonal of 5 “.

The display resolution of 1920×1080 pixels is a major upgrade in relation to the Oxygen 50c, which has a screen with 1280×720 pixels. The SOC is a Mediatek MTK6753 with eight Cortex-A53 cores at 1.3GHz and a Mali T720 GPU. Archos has 2GB plugged into the unit LPDDR3 memory.

The storage is 16GB and the unit has a slot for a micro SD card. In addition, the device has space for two SIM cards that support both 4G on almost all the frequencies used in the Netherlands. Only T-Mobile 4G secondary band at 900MHz supports 50d Oxygen not.

The Android 5.1 smartphone has a 2100mAh battery and 14,1×7,1cm wide, with a thickness of 8.2mm and a weight of 140 grams. The device has an unspecified 13-megapixel camera on the back and with a maximum resolution of five megapixels on the front. Archos brings the unit in May in the UK for a suggested retail price of 169.99 euros.
