Archos will deploy Lora network with “pico gateways




PicoWAN, a company under the aegis of the French electronics company Archos, wants a low power wide area network rollout for ‘connected devices’. The PicoWAN plug must fit into the wall socket and works with the Lora protocol.

picowan The network is intended for the ‘internet-of-things’ and has to be rolled out from June 2016 to Lora-PicoWAN gateways, which PicoWAN wants next year 200 000 free to spread in Europe. How this will happen is unknown.

The devices connect to a local Wi-Fi network that is connected to a fast Internet connection. Then the PicoWAN-device that turns a wireless network based on Lora. The pico gateway itself functions as a “smart plug” and also functions as an outlet.
