Arduino Materia 101 – 3D-printer costing less than $ 1,000

Recently, engineers create more diverse types of 3D-printers that can print a huge number of various materials. However, to make the 3D-printer is a mass product, producers need to perform several tasks, one of which is to reduce the cost of the final product.

Solve this problem offered the company Arduino, which has announced plans to produce low-cost 3D-printer together with Sharebot. Novelty called Materia 101, the resource Engadget.

The device is small in size (about 14 by 10 centimeters) and thus be able to print small objects that may be needed, such as for domestic use. Materia 101 prints using PLA-plastic, and seal itself is made by fusing filaments.

Arduino company plans to launch two versions of the printer. $ 800 manufacturer will send you only the components of the device from which you are at home themselves collect 3D-printer. However, if you want to get a ready Materia 101, then you have to pay another $ 200.

Materia 101 printer – it’s just one step in the direction of wide dissemination of 3D-printers . If other manufacturers support this initiative, in the near future most people will be able to afford to buy a 3D-printer for home use.
