Assetto Corsa Preview – PC racing game well on its way to consoles

No, it was not entirely new. Although the rise of games like Project Cars Assetto Corsa and the growing interest demonstrated in serious racing games, there could be some time in a serious manner to be raced, especially on the PC. It is already nearly a decade ago that a game like Race 07 SimBin of trying to achieve success through the car racing to display as accurately as possible. The years that followed booked several independent games good results in the same area, with the end of 2014 appeared Assetto Corsa as one of the examples.

Played on: PlayStation 4
Also appears with: Xbox One
Previously published for PC (Steam)

Like Project Cars, last year, Assetto Corsa was well received. The game, which since the fall of 2013 in Steam Early Access was playable, impressed with his in-depth simulation. Points of criticism were the somewhat limited number of cars in the game and the limited number of tracks. But faced that these cars and tracks were replicated to the smallest detail. The different circuits were even inched captured with a laser scanner. As hoped developers Kunos Simulazioni jobs in the best way possible to incorporate in the game, and the PC version of Assetto Corsa proved that the Italians there have made a right choice.

In the thirteen months have passed since then, the developer has not himself only focused on the release of updates for the PC version, which is now at issue 1.4 arrived, but also to develop a version for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One . Not a crazy choice. On which platforms the simulation racing games are a lot sown less thick, and last year showed Project Cars already see that there are best possibilities for racing games more seriously for the day to come than a game like Need for Speed, Drive Club or Forza and Gran Turismo. Moreover, thinks Kunos Simulazioni, game consoles are able to run well enough to provide the same driving and racing experience to PC gamers can experience more than a year.

That everything should be sometime this spring reality, as Assetto Corsa will actually make its debut on consoles. We are not there yet, but the developer is well on his way. That became clear when Tweakers the developer of the game recently met in Paris for a presentation and a short play session. That resulted largely repeat on. The console version relies to a large extent on the foundation that the PC version is built. The whole story about how the circuits in the game inched been scanned so again passed the revue.

Yet developer Marco Massarutto closed his opening talk with a remark that could be of value. According to the Italian gaming in fast link between “realistic and difficult ‘and between’ arcade and easily. Unfairly, according to him. “If you’re going to a circuit on your own car, is it hard? No. You may need some laps to learn the track and find out where is limit of your car, but it is not difficult. However, realistic, not hard. Assetto Corsa is not necessarily difficult. ” That would well be an important message for the console market, where the accessibility of a game might be more important than in the PC market, where there is more room for niche games.
