Asus releases a portable 21.6 “oled monitor in May for 4999 euros

Asus releases its ProArt PQ22UC monitor in the Benelux in May. The screen uses a 21.6 “-oled panel with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels. Asus already announced the monitor at the beginning of 2018 and is now releasing it in a limited edition.

Asus has announced the availability of the PQ22UC for the Benelux in May with a suggested retail price of 4999 euros. In the Pricewatch is the monitor at a number of web shops for 5359 euros.

The screen has an OLED panel that, according to TFTCentral, comes from the Japanese Joled consortium. That 21.6 “panel is made by printing oleds . That technology should make the production of oled panels cheaper, but the price of the Asus monitor shows that this is not yet the case.

According to Asus, the monitor can display 99 percent of the dci-p3 color space and there is hdr10 support. The maximum peak brightness for hdr playback is 330cd / m 2 and therefore too low to qualify for the DisplayHDR 400 certification.

The PQ22UC works via a USB-C or micro HDMI connection and the monitor has a stand that can be disconnected. Asus also supplies a cover that can be folded out as a standard, just as it works with some tablets. The whole weighs 1 kg.

Asus announced the portable OLED monitor during the CES trade fair in early 2018. It is not known why it took more than a year before the screen became available. The appearance and the characteristics seem unchanged compared to the model that was shown at the fair at the time.
