Audi provides e-tron of virtual exterior mirrors with OLED screen

Audi shows the interior of its electrically powered e-tron prototype and shows that the car can be equipped with cameras on the location of the rearview mirrors, while the image is displayed on OLED screens.

The optional cameras on the spot where the outside mirror is normally have a resolution of 1280×1080 pixels. The Audi e-tron heats the cameras against freezing and gives the driver a signal when they get dirty. The cameras adjust the brightness of the images based on the environment. In a tunnel, for example, they transmit the images more clearly.

Between the doors and the dashboard there are 7 “-oled screens on each side with a resolution of 1200×800 pixels for the display of the cameras and they serve as a rear-view mirror. These are touchscreens with which the image can be operated. to adjust.

The system can also do this itself, depending on the driving situation. There are stands for motorway, curves and parking. When driving on the highway, the focus is on fellow road users, when using the turn signal, the field of view is increased on the left or right and when reversing the system zooms out. The e-tron can also warn the driver with the screens for cars in the blind spot.

Audi further expands the e-tron with the MMI touch system, which consists of a 10.1 “and a 8.6” screen and has support for voice control. There is also room for the Bang & Olufsen 3D Premium Sound System, with a capacity of 705 watts and sixteen loudspeakers, of which two bass boxes in the front doors.

Audio will release the e-tron at the end of this year. It should be available in the Benelux at the beginning of next year.
