Away from the laptop market – Why Sony and Samsung stopped
The laptop market in the Benelux was a few years ago packed. Manufacturers tumbled over each other with the introduction of new models and a good price was almost indispensable to make a choice from the wide range. Although in recent years, many manufacturers have scaled down their offer because fewer and fewer profits could be made, there was at the beginning of the year to choose adequate. Twelve months later, it’s a lot less promising upon.
In September, Samsung announced to withdraw entirely from the European notebook market. Early this year, Sony had already announced to stop Vaio laptops. The division was sold to a Japanese company. The exit from Samsung and Vaio came unexpectedly for many; both brands were known for their quality. Samsung wanted in recent years, just make an advance and thereby tried a lot and Vaio made in nearly two decades name with innovative high-end models.
