Bang & Olufsen has teamed up with LG for the development and production of televisions. The Danish manufacturer wants in the TV combine its design, acoustics and smart home integration with OLED technology from LG. In 2017 appear the first OLED TV B & O.

LG is currently the only manufacturer that makes OLED panels with large formats for TVs. The South Korean group used these panels in their own TVs and Panasonic also has an OLED TV announced a panel from LG. Through the new partnership, the panels from 2017 will also find their way to include Bang & Olufsen. Previously used the manufacturer of luxury products include plasma panels from Panasonic and Samsung LCD variants of its BeoVision TVs. The Danish manufacturer itself does not screen panels.

The partnership with LG Electronics is according to Bang & Olufsen’s an important step for the Danish company to remain profitable in the long term. B & O expects to increase its margins and reduce costs through the contract. The potential savings would be 150 to 200 million Danish kroner, converted about 21 to 27 million.

In late November, made Bang & Olufsen known to have received several takeover proposals. Now the Danish company says it is in talks with a potential candidate. There are, however, not made any binding commitments and the outcome of the talks is still uncertain.
