Belgian bank Apple Pay coming this summer -update




A Belgian bank has said on Twitter that its customers from this summer can make use of Apple Pay, the payment service that works on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. It is the first time that a bank in the Benelux mentions a time when Apple Pay becomes available.

The Belgian bank KBC said on Twitter in response to a question from a customer that from this summer Apple Pay as a payment option will offer, discovered iculture. Earlier spoke the Dutch ING Bank has the option to pay with Apple Pay, but then gave no confirmation or planning.

It is unknown when Apple itself announces that its payment service will be available in more countries. It is possible that that happens during the keynote that gives the company its own developer conference WWDC. Those keynote takes place over less than three weeks.

Pay Apple came last fall in the United States. The service allows users to pay by holding their iPhone or Apple Watch against a payment terminal. The iPhone does the fingerprint scanner in the home button as authentication for payment. Many shops in the Benelux countries already have payment terminals with NFC option, making Apple Pay at many places would already equal work.

Update, 18:30: KBC has a tweet with a correction published. It says that Apple Pay ‘today not to order “. This company does not deny the earlier tweet, stating that Apple Pay will be available this summer.
