In a survey, Belgian bpost asks people to participate in a trial in which parcels are delivered in-house. A smart doorbell is used for this purpose, so that people can open the door remotely via their smartphone.

In the survey , bpost announces a trial with the smart doorbell. Bpost is looking for customers who want to participate. Images show that a smart door lock from Nuki is used in combination with a Nest Hello doorbell with camera.

The service is intended for people who are not at home when packages are delivered. If the postman rings the door, the resident will see a video image on his smartphone. Via an app, the door can be opened to allow the deliverer to deliver the package inside. When the bpost test starts and how many people take part is unknown.

Amazon has been offering a similar service in the United States since last year. Amazon Key works with various smart doorbells and allows American customers to open their door remotely for the package deliverer.
