Belgian telecom provider Mobistar continues as Orange
The Belgian operator Mobistar will continue under the name of the parent company Orange. By the end of 2016, the brand Mobistar should have disappeared. The French Orange has a small majority stake in Mobistar.
According to the Belgian newspaper De Morgen insisted Orange already longer on the name change. Orange CEO Stéphane Richard in September 2015 announced the change already on Twitter, but Mobistar had then know that it is still in discussion was the adaptation. Has now decided the board that the name change will be put through.
Mobistar is almost twenty years active on the Belgian telecommunications market. A provider with the name Orange in the past also active in Belgium. Until 2002, Orange was the name of the provider that is now called Base and owned by KPN. Meanwhile, Telenet is preparing to take over Base. KPN had to change the name because the brand Orange France Telecom had been held.
At the end of March, Mobistar will come with subscriptions for fixed Internet and digital television. This was announced at the presentation of the quarterly figures.
