Bill Gates: creating shortcut «Ctrl-Alt-Delete» was a mistake
Perhaps all owners of personal computers known keyboard shortcut «Control-Alt-Delete», which allows not only cause “task manager”, but also get rid of some problems. However, Bill Gates believes that this combination is a mistake. Speaking on September 21 financial lectures at Harvard University, he said that the combination Ctrl-Alt-Delete was created contrary to the main persons responsible for doing it.
“It was a mistake. We could hang this function on a single button. But the guy from IBM , who has worked with the design of the keyboard, decided to deprive us of this opportunity and do not use just one button. ”
Thus engineer David Bradley came up with the famous combination of three keys «Ctrl», «Alt» and «Delete», which is used by millions of computer owners to call the “Task Manager” or lock your computer.
On the one hand, now may seem to some (especially when you consider that people are much lazier than before) that this combination very inconvenient and requires more effort to be executed. While on the other hand it is good that this function are responsible for just three buttons, because otherwise it would have increased the chance to press accidentally, and when it is completely unnecessary. And gamers, worn out with the key «Win», most likely will understand me.
However, one wonders why Bradley chose to work these three keys, but not others.
