Bitmain starts production 7nm-asic for minus cryptocurrency




The Chinese chip designer Bitmain announces the mass production of the BM1391. It is his first 7nm-asic, for mining cryptocurrency based on the sha256 algorithm. Bitmain will equip Antminer systems with the new chips.

TSMC manufactures the 7nm finfet chips for Bitmain. The BM1391 mining asic consists of more than one billion transistors and offers a consumption ratio compared to a capacity of 42J / TH. With the current BM1387 produced on 16nm this is 98J / TH.

The start of mass production was announced by Wu Jihan, CEO of Bitmain, during the Digital Mining Summit in Georgia. Bitmain will provide the new Antminer systems with the new ones, with some focusing more on performance and other more on economy.

Bitmain is the market leader with its Antminer systems . In addition, the mining pool Antpool, and the tensor processor Sophon fall under the Chinese company.
