BlackBerry unveils internet-of-things-platform




Canadian BlackBerry manufacturer has an internet-of-things-announced platform based on its QNX software. With the platform, the company focuses first on the car market. BlackBerry also brings its BBM service to wearables.

BlackBerry says to combine QNX software with its networking for the internet-of-things-platform. The company claims a monthly 35 petabytes to handle mobile data traffic through its network. The IoT platform will consist of several modules.

With the BlackBerry platform focuses initially on shipping market and for connected cars, later, expansion to the sector for ‘smart energy’ and healthcare. QNX has a large market share in the area of ​​systems for cars.

BlackBerry announced at the same time that its BBM chat service expands into wearables running Android Wear. Owners of a smart watch with Android Wear receive notifications via BBM, read messages and wegswipen messages. The service works with Google Now.
