Blizzard Diablo II will run smoothly on new operating systems

Diablo II has received a new update from Blizzard, sixteen years after the game appeared. Patch 1.14a must lift some glitches faced by players could get when they turn to a recent operating system.

Patch 1.14a focuses on addressing the problems that Diablo II may exhibit in combination with current operating systems. In addition, the update brings a new installer for OS X. “You can finally get that old Mac PowerPC send into retirement,” says Blizzard.

The studio is also working on improving the cheat and hack detection at the game. “This trip starts with the run Diablo II on modern platforms but ends do not,” according to Blizzard. Diablo II was released in 2000 and in 2011 the last update, 1.13d appeared. In 2012, Blizzard released the sequel, Diablo III.

November last year published a vacancy on the Blizzard website, which the developer was looking for a programmer to “rehabilitate” old games. Considering there now appeared an update for Diablo II, Blizzard seems to have found the desired candidate. The vacancy hinting studio also updates other classics such as Starcraft and Warcraft III.
