Blizzard warns users of data collection software in Overwatch

Blizzard has sent a warning to Overwatch players who use data collection software such as Visor and Pursuit. Those who use the softwares risk losing their account.

Overwatch community manager Tom Powers says that Blizzard ‘has researched the software and concluded that it is in violation of the Blizzard end user agreement.’ According to PC Gamer , warnings were already sent out before the authenticity of the messages was confirmed by Powers.

Part C of the agreement states that the use of cheats, bots and hacks is not permitted. Software that gives players an unfair advantage over the rest is also covered, according to Powers. “We take competition very seriously in Overwatch, the basis of good competition is that every player is equally equipped to compete against each other, but a lot of third-party software affects the balance in Overwatch.”

The software in question consists mainly of Visor and Pursuit. Visor shows an overlay in the game that gives the user live feedback on enemy kills and other statistics. The developers of the program collected $ 4.7 million in August to improve performance software. Pursuit gives a comprehensive report on the performance of players after the game is over.
