Brings Intel Atom Z-soc for smartphones with higher clock rates from

Intel released the Atom Z3590 for smartphones and tablets. The SOC includes Silver Mont-cores and is still produced in 22nm but Intel has increased both the GPU and the CPU clock speeds for better performance.

Until recently, the Z3580 was in 2014 the fastest soc in the Z-series, but the Z3590 with Intel has released a more powerful model. The maximum clock speed of the GPU PowerVR G6430 of the Atom Z3590 is 640MHz, wherever the Z3580 533MHz. The maximum burst is clocked at 2.5GHz, the new model, while the Z3580 clocked at 2.33GHz.

The other specifications remain unchanged. It’s still a soc Silver Mont cores produced in 22nm and 2MB of L2 cache and supports up to 4GB lpddr3. Despite the higher clock speeds concerns still a midrange chip for smartphones and tablets.

Intel is working on a high-end processor for smartphones, the Broxton-soc on 14nm production will be, but it only comes out in 2016. Intel still has trouble walking to gain ground in the market for smartphones, where ARM is commonplace.
